Coat: Sunshine Silver

General

Sunshine silver, also known as bimetallic, is a relatively new colour currently only found in Siberians. Unlike typical silver cats, sunshine silver cats show a golden colour around the face, chest, and legs. This is possible because the golden colour is caused by CORIN, also known as sunshine, rather than the wide-band effects that create typical golden tabbies. Normal gold and silver cannot appear together because silver is created by the inhibitor gene suppressing the warm pigment that makes a wide-band cat look golden, but CORIN works differently. This allows silver and gold to appear together.

CORIN is also recognised in British Shorthairs, British Longhairs, and Kurilian Bobtails, but none of them recognise sunshine silver. A unique variant has also been found in Bengals, originating from Asian Leopard Cats.
