Torbie is the term for a cat that has both tabby and tortie patterns visible on any non-white areas. It is also known in real life as "patched tabby", "tortie-tabby", and when combined with white, as "caliby".
Torbies are only accepted in the breed if the standard lists both tabby and tortie. It is separate from both tabby and tortoiseshell and is not considered a sub-pattern of either. Tortoiseshell catz with striping on the red/cream areas but not on the non-red/cream areas are considered Tortoiseshells, not Torbies.
All tabby areas on the cat should use the same pattern on all tabby areas - the cat cannot, for instance, have broad stripes on its red tabby areas and thin stripes on its brown tabby areas. When possible, use coordinating furfiles from the same set.

Gender Restriction
In real life, almost all torties are female, as this pattern is sex-linked. All torties and torbies that wish to be A-registered in the UKC must be females. Male torties/torbies may be P-registered.

Torbie Colour Guide
Torbies are created by mixing areas of a red/cream-based tabby pattern with areas of a non-red/cream-based tabby pattern. Follow the list below when combining tabby patterns from the Tabby doc. Distribution of patches and mingling should follow the Tortoiseshell doc as much as possible.
Regular Torbie
Silver Torbie
Golden Torbie

Examples
Below is a gallery of torbie patterned catz, either in just the torbie pattern or combined with other patterns. Many more combinations than these are acceptable, this is just to provide some visual guidance to the text above
