Notes

The Mandalay was developed in New Zealand, first appearing in the early 1970s. Breeders began selectively breeding Burmese cats for colours other than their traditional standard, resulting in kittens with a solid coloured appearance. Though the NZCF (New Zealand Cat Fancy) officially recognised the breed in 1990, the breed largely remains in its country of origin and nearby areas, with Australian clubs also recognising it.

Type & Judging Remarks
The Mandalay is almost identical to the European Burmese, but has a slightly longer nose, a less round face, and smaller eyes. It is an elegant, medium-sized cat with a slightly rounded head and slender legs.
