BREED NAME
Notes
The Australian Mist is a medium-sized, well-balanced cat. Its distinctive spotted or marbled pattern gives the breed an elegant and unique look, while its large, expressive green eyes add to its gentle charm. Australian Mists are alert, active, and intelligent. The breed was developed in Australia in the 1970s by Dr Truda Straede, who combined Burmese, Abyssinian, and domestic shorthair cats to create a friendly, even-tempered companion. Originally known as the Spotted Mist, the breed was renamed the Australian Mist in 1998 to recognise the introduction of marbled coat patterns.
Type & Judging Remarks
The body is medium to large in length and size with a rounded chest and strong legs. The head has rounded contours, moderately large ears and large, lustrous green eyes. The coat is short, dense and resilient, with a soft, glossy texture. Coat patterns may be spotted or marbled, with delicate misted markings and an overall balance of colour and contrast.
