Notes
Harriers have a long history in England with detailed records of individual packs existing from 1260 to the present. In March of 1891, the Association of Masters of Harriers and Beagles was formed and published a Stud Book. Harriers were at that time much more popular than Beagles.
The Harrier is an outgoing and friendly dog who gets along well with people and other dogs. Harriers love athletic activities such as hiking, biking, and jogging.
The Harrier is a strong and rather light hound, agile and with great endurance. The head is rather long with slightly pointed muzzle and dry lips. The eyes should be expressive, the ears set high, rather short and V-shaped. The neck is long and slightly arched. The chest is deep, with a straight back. The tail should be carried in a curve. The coat is thick and waterproof.
