Petz Community Etiquette
Welcome to the PC!
Joining the Petz Community for the first time or coming back after a long hiatus can feel intimidating. We are a decades-old community with many close knit friend groups going back just as long. Here are some tips and guidelines for interacting with our community, and finding the best space for you!
Finding Your People
There are several different communities within the PC, each with their own vibe. It's okay to fit in and be more comfortable in one over another.
Petz on Main Street (POMS) & Petz Life
A calm, structured 18+ Discord community that tends to attract older, veteran players that are keen on helping out new and returning players so we can keep this community alive for many more years to come.
Petz Life offers planned events and activities every month. As members are 18+, expect some adult humor and playful banter. However, the focus is very Petz based, and political discourse, divisive subjects, and venting are heavily moderated.
As part of the larger POMS brand, the server is connected to a wider network. This includes The Petz Bazaar (a virtual marketplace with daily mini-games, aka TPB), Department of Petz Preservation (an archive dedicated to preserving Petz history, aka DOPP), and PetzU (an accessible learning hub for new and returning players alike)
Game version most played: Petz 4 almost exclusively
Petzcord
All ages. Large server with over 1k members, mostly catering to a younger under-18 crowd, and less moderated than other Petz spaces. Tends to be the landing place for new players from Reddit, Tumblr, Deltarune, etc. Little to no organized activities, more so just vibing and sharing petz. If you like Tumblr and have a personal Carrd website, you'll probably like Petzcord.
Game version most played: Mix of Petz 5 and Petz 4
Petz Auto Adoption Club, Petz Show Club, Duke's Group
All ages spaces, no real-life social aspects. Occasional events. Strictly adopting petz, showing petz, and raising petz naturally, respectively. If you prefer to keep to yourself, adopt free petz, and not interact with the wider community, these spaces may suit you.
Game version most played: Mostly Petz 4

General Etiquette
- Please & Thank You go a long way! Lots of petz players love to help people out, and a kind word sweetens the deal. Letting people know you appreciate their effort makes them want to continue helping out.
- Constructive critique is welcome, just be mindful of your tone. Making content for Petz is a labor of love, and often requires lots of time. Remember someone worked hard on what you're commenting on.
- If you like something, say so! We love to encourage each other to keep making stuff in Petz. Don't be shy with praise! It can be a great ice breaker if you've never talked to someone before, and works a whole lot better than guilt-tripping if you ever want to trade someone or adopt from them.
- Hold off on political opinions in public servers. Petz players come from the left, the right, the middle, and from different countries with different cultures. What brings us together in the PC, is Petz! Lighthearted jokes can be okay, but don't assume everyone in a space shares your worldview (even if you think it's the correct one to have).
- We're a simple community who prefers peace. If someone is bothering you, consider stepping away from the conversation and taking a breather. You can always use the block or ignore feature on Discord if they continue upsetting you. If something genuinely unsafe (and not just personally upsetting) is going on, please contact a staff member!
Petz Etiquette
- Petz 4 is the most widely played game version in the PC. You'll have more content options, continued updates, and be able to share with more people if you use Petz 4.
- The PC precedes modern fandoms & gaming communities, and prefers to use "old" terminology. E.g. we call modifying game files "hexing" and not "modding," original files "original" and not "vanilla" etc. We have a dictionary here on PetzU.
- Overwriting (OW) breed files are generally preferred to non-overwriting breedfiles when possible. It reduces game clutter and allows for less cumbersome pet sharing.
- Send pet files with everything they need to be playable, including textures or palettes.
- Use PetzA to tree-trim large (over 1MB) pet files if you are sending them via discord adoption bots or The Petz Bazaar.
AI Use
- The PC is pretty AI friendly! We are busy adults just having fun with our hobby. Lots of people use AI assistance to make graphics and code projects.
- If you don't like AI, you don't have to interact with AI-assisted content. You are welcome to scroll away.
- We don't shame people for using AI or imply their content is lesser than. Again you're welcome to give your attention only to entirely organic projects if that is your preference, but please refrain from negative discussion on the subject.
