Nova's Guide To Using Copy & Paste Codes
I did not write this, this is the work of Nova@Supernova who hasn't been active in the Petz Community for years. Nova was an advocate for sharing knowledge, so preserving her guides is a way of honouring that. Hexing has moved on since 2009, but they're still useful to go over for a refresher
How To Use Copy & Paste Codes That Require Linez
When you download a copy/pastie that require linez, chances are they need tweaking.
In my C/Ps I try to make a "default" addball list starting with 1, to make it easier for you to change to whatever number it needs to be for your file.
For example say the copy/pastie comes from a file where the particular addballz section was after addball #87. Then its linez begin with 88. But when you paste it into your file, the section may be after addball #92 instead. Ohnoes! Linez all messed up!
Converting can be a little tiresome if it's a complicated set but it is not too hard if you are smart. This is how I do it:
- Count how many addballz the copy/pastie has, and lists its numbers. Easiest is to check what/how many numbers are listed in the Linez part of the code
For example, say you want to use a code and the linez section for this C/P goes from 1-6. Then we list them like this (in Notepad or another program of your choice):
- 1
- 2
- 3
- 4
- 5
- 6
- Paste the addballz into your file and count the balls. Remember, the top addball is 77 and you count one per line. Read more here if confused.
Now, we will make a legend for converting the linez. Let's say you found out in your file, the fangs will start at 92 and go up to 97. Add that as a second column to the list, like so:
- 1 92
- 2 93
- 3 94
- 4 95
- 5 96
- 6 97
- Now we can update the linez section! Simply exchange the original list's numbers with yours:
1, 3, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100 2, 4, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100 3, 5, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100 4, 6, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100
to fit your file's ball count:
92, 94, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100 93, 95, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100 94, 96, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100 95, 97, 0, -1, -1, -1,100, 100
All done! Now you can save the file and delete your legend.
Pet Workshop?
If you want and are sure how the linez are supposed to be connected, you can ignore the linez when you add your C/P and just connect them in PW instead. Although I wouldn't recommend to do that with large complicated sets, like wings.
Might be nice with small/easy sets though, like adding linez between nails and toes or such.
